Mornings are hard for me. Tough to figure out what to eat and fast for breakfast. I like sweet breakfast, but hubby doesn’t. So, I’ve finally came out with french toast. I think it’s our common ground. It’s sweet enough for me and “unsweet” enough for hubby. I tried to make the french toast my way with spices that I have inside my kitchen cabinet. It’s fast, easy and simple recipe that I will do for breakfast from now on. Give it a try!
4 slices of bread, stale is preferable
1/4 cup of milk
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 dashes of nutmeg
1 tsp honey
1/2 tsp sugar
1 tsp butter or butter spay
Whisk the eggs and milk together. Add all the rest of ingredients except for bread and butter. Whisk them well until the appearance looks pale yellow or custard like.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Dip bread into mixture, allow to soak for 30 seconds on each side. Pick it up with a thong and let it drip all the excess eggs. Heat up a flat pan, spray the butter or 1 tsp of butter. Remove the bread to the pan. Place 2 slices of bread at a time into the pan and cook until golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side.
Remove from pan and place on the oven for 5 minutes.
Repeat until all slices are done.
Serve immediately with maple or pancake syrup.
